Lions Club finalizes its HomeTown Celebration plans
The Saratoga HomeTown Celebration, the city's "millennium event," will be held July 4, from noon to 5 p.m. at Villa Montalvo. Parking will be at West Valley College, since no parking will be allowed at Villa Montalvo. A shuttle service will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $1.
The day's entertainment will be the 561st Air Force Band from the California Air National Reserve. The Saratoga Sister City Taiko Band will kick off the entire program at 12:30 p.m.
The city's historical foundation will have a document for all attendees to sign for Saratoga's Millennium Capsule that will be buried in the fall at the historical museum. It will be dug up in 2025.

Waltonsmith to address GGG
The Good Government Group of Saratoga will hold it's annual meeting June 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the Senior Day Care Center on Allendale Avenue.
A continental brunch will be served followed by a brief business meeting in which officers and the board of directors will be elected. Councilwoman Ann Waltonsmith will speak about, "Looking to Saratoga's Future, With an Eye on The Past." The meeting is open to the public. Growth, housing and transportation forum on tap
Issues of growth, traffic and the imbalance of jobs to housing will be discussed June 15, at "Local Decisions: Regional impacts," a workshop sponsored by Santa Clara County.
The free workshop runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Mexican Heritage Plaza auditorium in San Jose. Local government officials, and business and community leaders from San Francisco to Monterey will explore local and regional strategies concerning growth.
