Musical version of 'Romeo And Juliet'

'Silence Matters' art exhibit

Youth choir to perform at Presbyterian Church

The Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos, 16575 Shannon Road, hosts the Youth Choir of the University United Methodist Church of Chapel Hill, N.C., in a concert on June 18, at 7:30 p.m.

The choir is made up of 50 young people, ranging from the sixth through 12th grade, who sing regularly in their Chapel Hill church. Native Californian Tim Baker, who holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in music, is their director.

Every year, the choir learns an extended work such as Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar or Celebrate Life and takes it on tour throughout the U.S. This year, its performance is Sacred Concert, written by the great jazz composer Duke Ellington. He wrote the piece on commission from Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, where it premiered in 1965.

There is no charge to attend the concert. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 408.356.6156.
