Berries Galore!
It was a day made for relaxing at Saratoga's West Valley College

Visitors to the 39th annual Strawberry Festival at West Valley College last weekend indulged in some nine tons of strawberries--in just about as many forms as one could imagine. The event is a major fundraiser for Eastfield Ming Quong, the nonprofit organization that works with children and families with emotional problems.
The first Strawberry Festival took place in a backyard in Los Gatos and eventually moved to the Ming Quong campus. Later Ming Quong merged with Eastfield, and the festival eventually moved to downtown Los Gatos. The popular event, which now attracts visitors from all over the Bay Area, moved three years ago to the WVC campus where there's ample room for food, crafts, entertainment and a special area for children's games and entertainment.
Channel 54's Kanga Roddy was on hand both days and shook lots of little hands, many of them sticky, no doubt, from strawberry concoctions.
The weather was just about perfect--not too hot or too wet as it has been on some occasions.
For those who wanted to get a little exercise before they began indulging in the foodfest, there was a 5K Run and Walk on the campus to benefit the Bay Area Lupus Foundation.
