GGG elects its new officers, directors

Saratoga's Good Government Group has elected new officers and directors for the coming year. New officers who will lead the organization are Al Roten, president; Jane Dennis, vice president-membership; and Susan Brandenburg, treasurer.

New directors on the GGG's board are Dick Dennis, Sam Ochi, Bud Greenlee, Norm Martin, Ron Knapp and Ted Roland. Continuing directors are Kirby Hollis, John Lundell, Frank Patten, Charles Thomas, Beth Wyman and outgoing president Marlene Duffin.

Council commends Olga MacFarlane

The Saratoga City Council commended Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council executive director Olga MacFarlane at its June 3 meeting. MacFarlane, who has served as SASCC's only executive director for 16 years, retires later this month.

The council thanked MacFarlane for her work and dedication to SASCC. "Over the years, she has had a direct and beneficial effect on thousands of people, both those who work with her and those served by her," the proclamation states.

Changes proposed in building codes

The Saratoga Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss proposed regulations in the city's building codes at its meeting at 7:30 p.m., June 24. The commission will discuss the possibility of restricting the number of wood-burning fireplaces allowed in new homes, and the creation of a creek-protection setback for new construction.

Citizen of the Year banquet planned

Saratoga resident Warren Lampshire will be honored at a banquet on June 18 hosted by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce. The chamber recently named Lampshire its 1997 Citizen of the Year.

The banquet will be held at the Saratoga Country Club, located at 21990 Prospect Rd. Tickets for the event are priced at $40 per person. A no-host bar will begin the evening at 6 p.m., and dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m. Business casual attire is required.
