West Valley Basketball Camp

The 24th annual West Valley Boys Basketball Camp returns to the West Valley Community College campus in Saratoga June 23-July 3 for boys ages 8-16.

The camp will feature shooting techniques, ball handling drills, rebounding techniques, passing drills, man-to-man defense and more. There will be individual analysis, and each camper will receive a report card indicating strengths and areas for improvement.

Successful West Valley head coach Bob Burton will serve as co-camp director along with former West Valley star and successful area coach John Franza.

There will be individual and team awards presented and knowledgeable guest speakers.

San Jose Lasers Basketball Camps

The San Jose Lasers of the American Basketball League will hold summer basketball camps for boys and girls in August at San Jose State University.

The camps, led by members of the Lasers and the team's coaching staff, will be held Aug. 11-14, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. each day, for girls in grades 8-12 and Aug. 18-21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, for girls and boys in grades 3-8. The cost is $205 per player.

Girls' Summer Basketball Clinic

A summer basketball clinic for girls in grades 7-12 will be held June 23-July 24, 1-3 p.m. each day (Monday through Thursday each week), in the gym at Saratoga High School. The cost is $150 per player.

Saratoga girls' varsity basketball head coach Bret Yeilding will serve as camp director, with former top players assisting as clinic staff members.

All-comers meets

Los Gatos will host all-comers track and field meets on Thursdays, 5 p.m., June 26 through Aug. 14, at the high school track. There is a $3 entry fee. For more information, call Willie Harmatz at 354-7365 or Steve Barth at 354-2730.
