Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsYouth orchestra plays bon voyage concert Before leaving on its "Spirit of Independence" tour, the San Jose Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform a bon voyage concert at Villa Montalvo's Garden Theater. The performance, on June 19 at 7:30 p.m., will serve as a fundraiser for the orchestra's trip to Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands. The symphony is divided into two parts, a junior orchestra for younger musicians and a senior orchestra for more advanced musicians. Saratoga residents participating in the concert include Myra Chaney, Colby Smith, Ceron Rhee, Grace Park, Dennis Tseng and Richard Park. In Ireland, the group will perform in Dublin, sister city of San Jose; Lisowel, Los Gatos' sister city; and Cork, the sister city of San Francisco. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors and $25 for a family of four. For more concert information, call Dolly Johnson at 354-1513. Library gardening series continues Friday Morning Flowers, a five-week series on gardening, is being held at Saratoga Community Library on June 20. The fourth of the series, this edition will be hosted by Virginia and Louis Saso of the Saso Herb Garden. It will feature herbs and herb gardening. The presentation will start at 10 a.m. No registration is required and it is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Nancy Howe at 867-6127. Grandparents' group gets legal advice Attorney Martha Uelmen will be featured at the Grandparents' Support Group meeting on June 24. Uelmen will address the rights of grandparents and their grandchildren with regard to legal and financial issues relating to mediation, divorce and custody. The support group is for grandparents who are the immediate providers for their grandchildren. In the group's sessions, advice is exchanged and support is given. The meetings are held at the Saratoga Senior Center on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call Nadine Fralick at 868-1263 or 868-1257.
