All-star tourney to open
The Saratoga and Quito Little League's will be in the field when the District 12 major division all-star tournament begins July 1 at the American Little League field (Cory Elementary School behind Valley Fair).
Quito meets Los Gatos at 5:30 p.m. on July 1 to open the tourney that features games running through July 17, when the championship will be decided.
In other first-round action, Union faces Cambrian on July 2, Willow Glen battles host American on July 3 and Saratoga faces Branham Hills on July 5 in 5:30 p.m. games.
The Quito-Los Gatos winner will move on to a July 6, 10 a.m., game against Almaden and the Union-Cambrian winner will take on Lincoln Glen on July 6, 1 p.m.
Burton hosts camp
West Valley College men's basketball coach Bob Burton will head up the annual West Valley Boys' Basketball Camp this summer at the school's Saratoga campus.
The camp, for boys ages 8-16, will feature instruction in basketball fundamentals and will be held July 1-12 with players ages 13-16 attending 9:10-11:10 a.m. and players ages 8-12 participating 11:20 a.m.-1:20 p.m. The cost is $85 per session. For more information, call Burton at 741-2173.
Youth football
Los Gatos Pop Warner Football will hold final registration at a parents meeting on July 13, 10 a.m., at Fisher Middle School.
The organization will hold signups at 11 a.m. for football players and cheerleaders, ages 8-14. Players must live in Los Gatos, Saratoga or Campbell to be eligible. For more information, call 270-1443.
Soccer signups
Fall registration is now being accepted for the Saratoga AYSO youth soccer program. The registration fee is $80 per player and parents must accept a volunteer job in the program. New players must provide a birth certificate, and all players must provide the names and phone numbers of their doctors and emergency contacts. Financial assistance is available. Monta Vista hosts camp
A summer basketball camp for boys and girls ages 8-16 will be held July 22-26 at the Monta Vista gym.
The Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department will host the camp. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, and the cost is $115 for Cupertino residents and $135 for nonresidents. For information, call 777-3120.
