Burgess-Hughes

Sean Burgess and Owen Hughes were married May 5 at Long Ridge Meadow in Saratoga.

The bride graduated from Overland High School in Aurora, Colo., in 1983, and got her undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado in 1987. She has a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of California at San Francisco. She is the daughter of Joanne Rubinstein and the late George Burgess of Colorado. She is a Research Fellow at Harvard University.

The groom, the son of Gary and Ethel Hughes of Saratoga, graduated from Saratoga High School in 1982, received his bachelor's degree in humanities from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987, and earned his Ph.D. in genetics from UCSF in 1991. He is employed by Entrepreneur Scientist in Cambridge, Mass.

The couple honeymooned in Italy and will reside in Cambridge, Mass.

Shen-Munson

Amelia Huimin Shen and Kenneth Kroymann Munson were married May 11 at Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley.

The bride is the daughter of Ann and Lawrence Shen of Saratoga and is a 1984 graduate of Saratoga High School. She received a B.S.E.E. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's and Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She works as a developer in computer-aided design at EPIC Design Technology in Sunnyvale.

The groom, the son of Carol and Paul Munson of North Haven, Conn., graduated from North Haven High School in 1983. He received a B.S.E.E. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master's degree from Stanford University. He works as a computer architect at Rise Technology in San Jose.

The couple will reside in Saratoga.
