Kimberlee Bay Area performer, Kimberlee, will do a concert at Saratoga's Blue Rock Shoot before leaving for Southern California.

Kimberlee plans a farewell concert at Blue Rock Shoot

    By Shari Kaplan

Bay Area native Kimberlee--known on a first-name basis professionally as well as personally, will give a farewell concert at Saratoga's Blue Rock Shoot coffeehouse on July 7, from 8 to 11 p.m., joined by her band, EvenNow. Soon after the gig, the Santa Claran will move to Los Angeles to expand her musical career.

By the time Kimberlee was 8 years old, she says she knew that singing and music would be an integral part of her life. By the time she was 12, Kimberlee owned her own guitar, studied it thoroughly and within a few years was playing before crowds. As a 15-year-old, she was accepted into the vocal school of instructor Judy Davis, who usually does not accept students until they are 18. Davis made an exception because she thought Kimberlee's voice was unusually mature.

Over the course of her nine years studying voice, Kimberlee developed her own style, with influences from country, rock, folk, blues, and R & B. She began mixing these different flavors into her own writing and singing, as she continues to do today.

For the last 15 years, Kimberlee has performed throughout the Bay Area, sang the National Anthem for the U.S. Olympics and at Giants ballgames in the former Candlestick Park, won first place in a Nashville talent competition and has participated in various benefit concerts to raise money for charitable causes.

Kimberlee has recently released her debut album, Learning How to Love, which contains five original songs taped at a South Bay recording session with her band, EvenNow.

Blue Rock Shoot is at 14523 Big Basin Way. For information, call the coffee house at 408.867.3437, or visit www.KimberleeMusic.com.
