    Hoop Tourney

    The first annual Los Gatos Basketball Tournament for girls varsity and junior varsity is set for July 9-11. All teams are guaranteed four games, and the entry fee is $250 per team.

    There will be three-on-three competition, a three-point shootout and free throw contests, and the event is open to all girls entering grades 9-12.

    Basketball Camp

    Basketball Basics, a fundamentals camp for girls in grades 5-8, will be held at Westmont High School July 12-23 under the direction of girls basketball coach Jerry Pettit.

    Camp hours are 8 a.m.-noon for players in grades 5-6, and 1-5 p.m. for players in grades 7-8. The cost is $165.

    Badminton Camp

    International badminton player and coach Rose Lei will host a summer badminton camp at Saratoga High School.

    The camp will feature divisions for beginners (July 6-9, 8:30-10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.); intermediates (Section 2--July 19-30, 8:30-10:30 a.m.); and advanced (Section 2--July 19-30, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). The cost is $80 for beginners and $150 for intermediate and advanced.

    Lei was an international level badminton player for the world championship Chinese national team. She has taught badminton at Colorado State University, in San Francisco and is now the coach at Saratoga High.

    Fall Soccer

    The Saratoga AYSO will hold registration at Argonaut School for the fall soccer season on July 10, 9:30-noon.

    The league will work with MLS Camps to offer youth soccer camps Aug. 9-13 and Aug. 23-27, 9 a.m.-noon each day, at Congress Springs Park.
