Summer sports camps for kids

Camps at De Anza

HoopEdge basketball camps will be held July 6-24 for boys and girls ages 8-17 at De Anza Community College in Cupertino. Three weekly sessions are scheduled, and the camps will be run by a collegiate staff of coaches. For information, call 864-8729.

Saratoga Skills Clinic

The fourth annual Saratoga Skills Clinic will be held this summer for girls entering grades 7-12 this fall.

Clinics will be held through July 23, 1-3 p.m. each Monday through Thursday. The cost is $175 per player. Saratoga girls' basketball head coach Bret Yeilding and his staff will conduct the the clinic, along with former top players. Individual offensive skills will be emphasized, including passing, dribbling, ball handling and shooting.

Williams Camp

The annual Sid Williams Basketball Camp returns to the court at Fisher Middle School July 13-17. The camp is designed for "the motivated player" entering the fifth-ninth grades.

Session I will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. each days for boys and girls entering fifth and sixth grades. Session 2 for boys and girls going into the seventh-ninth grades will be held from 4 to 7 p.m.

Santa Clara Soccer Camps

Santa Clara Soccer Camps will hold a series of camps for boys and girls, ages 6-17, at Santa Clara University.

Camp sessions include: Girls' Residential--July 5-9, ages 9-13, field players and goalkeepers; July 12-16, ages 9-17, team camp; July 18-22, ages 14-17, field players and goalkeepers; Boys' Residential--July 24-28, ages 14-17, field players and goalkeepers; July 29-Aug. 2, ages 10-13, field players and goalkeepers; Girls' Day Camp--July 12-16, ages 9-13, 9 a.m.-noon; Girls' Shooting and Goalkeeper Camp--July 12-16, ages 14-17, 2-4:30 p.m.; Boys' Day Camp--Aug. 3-7, ages 6-16, 9 a.m.-noon; Boys' Strikers Camp--Aug. 3-7, ages 10-16, 1:30-4 p.m.; Boys' Goalkeeper Camp--Aug. 3-7, ages 10-16, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Santa Clara Soccer Camps also features the Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League Team Development Program at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex Aug. 10-14; and the Mt. Hamilton Youth Soccer League Camp at Cadwallader School, Aug. 3-7.

Baseball School

The annual Santa Clara Baseball School returns to Santa Clara University this summer, under the direction of Broncos head coach Mike Cummins and former Santa Clara player and coach Lou Lucas.

Remaining camp sessions include: Session II--July 6-10, hitting only, 9-10:15 a.m. or 10:30-11:45 a.m,, $60; and Session III--July 20-24, basic fundamentals and hitting, 9 a.m.-noon, $110, and pitching only, 1-2:30 p.m., $60.
