Attempted-murder suspect returned to victim's home

By Sarah Lombardo

Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies continue to search for a suspect accused of attempted murder and false imprisonment of his father in April after the suspect apparently returned to his victim's Saratoga home June 22.

Sheriff officials claim John Yip Wong, 21, entered his father's Far Ranch Road home April 11 armed with a semiautomatic handgun, fought with his father, Saratoga resident Joseph Wong, 45, and shot his father in the face. According to deputies, the younger Wong had not been seen since the April incident--until his suspected return June 22, during which he is accused of vandalizing his father's home and causing major damage.

Wong apparently fled the scene in April in a red 1992 Toyota 4Runner, and, according to deputies, witnesses report he is still driving the same vehicle. Deputies said the younger Wong should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding John Wong is asked to contact the sheriff's department at 299-2211 or, after hours, 299-2674. Information should be directed to Detective Steve Lionbarger.
