Celebration of a Dairy Life

Claravale Dairy founder Kenneth Peake celebrated his 90th birthday on June 17 with the distribution of a paperback book describing his life's work. The illustrated 'La Historia Verdadera de una Botella de Leche' (The True Story of a Bottle of Milk) is printed in Spanish in recognition of the Mexican-American workers who helped at the dairy for many years. It was written in 1972 by Ernesto Galarza. The book is being distributed to schools, historical societies and museums. Here, Peake signs a letter that will go to school superintendents encouraging them to use the book as a Spanish-language learning aid. Publication of several hundred copies of the book was a gift of Metro Newspapers.
