The Los Gatos, Saratoga and Quito Little Leagues are all neighbors. But they haven't been treating one another very neighborly over the past couple of weeks.

And that trend most likely will continue this week when they collide in District 12 all-star tournament play.

The three leagues have been beating up on each other in all-star action in the four different district tournaments, and that will continue this week--especially in the 11-year-old division.

Los Gatos dropped a 5-4 decision to Branham last Saturday, and now the Gatos 'stars will run smack dab into one of its two neighbors on Thursday night.

Saratoga, a Tuesday loser to Branham, and Quito, a Monday loser to Cambrian, were to meet on Monday in an elimination game. The loser will fall out of the tourney, and the winner will face Los Gatos on July 5, 5:30 p.m., at Baggerly Field on Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos.

Saratoga wasn't very neighborly in its treatment of Los Gatos in the first round of the 9-year-old tournament.

Saratoga pounded Los Gatos 9-1 to advance the winner's bracket semifinals against the Lincoln Glen-Quito first-round winner. Semi winners play in the winner's bracket finals on July 7, 12:30 p.m. at the Cambrian Little League field, Ross and Foxworthy in San Jose.

Saratoga could get another shot at Los Gatos in the 10-year-old tournament.

Saratoga lost its first-round game to Almaden No. 1, but the locals have battled back through the loser's bracket to remain alive.

'Toga knocked off Branham No. 2 and pounded Almaden No. 2 to keep rolling through the bracket. Saratoga will now face Union on July 3, 5:30 p.m., at the Union Little League, behind Cinnabar School on Camden Avenue in San Jose.

A win could set up another Saratoga-Los Gatos game. Gatos No. 1 lost 7-6 to Cambrian on Saturday to drop into the loser's side and will play the winner of Monday's Branham No. 1-Los Gatos No. 2 game on July 3. That winner faces the Saratoga-Union winner on July 5, 5:30 p.m., at Union.

Quito faced early elimination in the division, losing to Cambrian and Almaden No. 2 in back-to-back games.

Quito lost its major division opener 6-1 to--who else--Los Gatos last Saturday. Quito will now face the Saratoga-Union first-round loser on July 7, 9 a.m., at the Quito Little League field at Rolling Hills Middle School on More Avenue off of Pollard Road.

Saratoga was to open against Union last weekend, and that winner was to face Almaden on Monday.
