    On Campus

    WVC theater shows 'West Side Story'

    West Valley College will present its summer musical, West Side Story, July 29 through Aug.1 at the WVC Campus Theatre. Admission is $8 for students and seniors and $10 for general admission. For more information, call 741-2058.

    SHS student is named National Merit scholar

    Nader Elziq of Saratoga has been named a National Merit Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in Evanston, Ill.

    Elziq, a Saratoga High School graduate, was awarded the scholarship based on achievements in academics and social activities. Synopsis Inc. sponsored and funded the award as part of its commitment to enhancing education, promoting social issues and bettering local communities.

    More than 7,600 Merit Scholar awards, worth about $28 million, were offered to distinguished high school seniors in 1999.
