Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsConcert season is in the works The Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association is now selling tickets and subscriptions for its 51st season of four performances, which run from November 1998 to April 1999. All concerts take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Los Gatos High School Prentiss Brown Auditorium, except for the Feb. 14 concert, which is held across the street at the First United Methodist Church of Los Gatos. The first concert on Nov. 8 features LeRoy Villanueva, a baritone known for his singing of both Baroque and contemporary works. Next is the San Jose Wind Symphony performing symphonic band music and contemporary selections on Jan. 10. Young pianist and recitalist Robert Thies tickles the ivories on Feb. 14. On April 25, organ virtuoso Aram Basmadjian plays a diverse program with his own four-manual Allen pipe organ. The LGSCCA also holds its annual membership meeting on July 18 at 9:30 a.m. in the Saratoga Library. All subscribers are invited to attend. Rec Dept. offers classes in Tai Ji The Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation has a series of Tai Ji dance classes available to senior citizens and adults of all ages this summer. From 5:30 to 6 p.m. on six consecutive Thursdays, beginning July 9, participants will learn how to use warm-up and rhythmic movements to create a lightness and freedom in the body while incorporating the graceful steps of Tai Ji. Fee for the class is $29. For more information or to register, call 354-8700. Our Lady of Fatima celebrates 50 years Our Lady of Fatima Villa, a skilled nursing facility located at 20400 Los Gatos-Saratoga Road in Saratoga, holds its 50th anniversary celebration on July 15. From 4 to 7 p.m., the public is invited to stop by the villa for an informative and fun open house. There will be refreshments, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle and door prizes.
