Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsLady of Fatima sets rummage and bake sale On July 18 Our Lady of Fatima Villa will hold its biannual rummage and bake sale. Clothing, kitchenware, furniture and household items that are donated by family members of the villa's residents and the community will be sold. Baked goods made at the villa and by family members will also be sold as snacks. Proceeds benefit the activity department for field trips and materials for residents. Sale hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call Terry Becker, activities director, at 741-2950. Montalvo show features artists in residence A new exhibit at the Gallery at Montalvo will feature works by four artists who have participated in Montalvo's Artists in Residence Program during the past three years. The exhibit, called "Four Montalvo Artists Work on Paper," runs July 15 through Aug. 17. The works of all four artists--Jane Burgunder of San Jose, Joseph Lin of Los Angeles, Austin Thomas of New York and Rene Yung of San Francisco--are all drawings on paper. Throughout the year, Montalvo houses up to 35 artists on the grounds of the villa. A reception for the artists will be held on July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information on the exhibit, call Theres Rohan at 961-5813. Morning seminar discusses Women in the Holy Land A discussion on "Biblical and Contemporary Women in the Holy Land," sponsored by the Catholic Women's Network, will be held on Saturday July 26. Martha Ann Kirk, a professor at Incarnate World College in San Antonio, Texas, will lead the discussion. Last year, Kirk led a discussion in Jerusalem at a conference of Christian, Jewish and Muslim women. The morning program will include stories about biblical women responding to God and stories of today's Israeli and Palestinian women. The discussion will be held at Notre Dame Provincialate, 14800 Bohlman Rd., Saratoga. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at noon with a salad-bar lunch. The seminar is $10; registration deadline is July 22. Call 245-8663.
