Redwood students get taste of reality Redwood Middle School students recently heard more than 60 Santa Clara Valley professionals speak about the world of work at Redwood's School To Work Day. At an assembly, students first heard speakers briefly describe their jobs and the importance of continued learning. They then split up into individual classrooms to go one-on-one with the professionals. Students listened to the professionals describe their work and the education it took to get them there, then put questions to the accountants, athletes, techies, pilots and even reporters. Redwood Principal Christopher Farmer said, "Students are motivated when they are able to make connections between the curriculum in school and their expectations of the world beyond school." Santa Clara University commends Saratogan Santa Clara University honored Tara Esmaeili during the university's graduation ceremony last month. Esmaeili received the Professor Joseph F. Deck Award from the chemistry department faculty for excelling in her studies and undergraduate research, participating in extracurricular activities, her leadership skills, tutoring fellow students and maintaining a B average.
