Celebrating 55 Years

Ervin "Erv" and Alice DeSmet, Saratoga residents since 1969, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 13 with their family and friends. Both are natives of Santa Clara County. Erv graduated from San Jose State University and attended Stanford Law School. Alice is a graduate of UC-Berkeley. Both taught school for a time. Erv also worked as an apricot and prune rancher for 20 years. The couple has four children: Ervin DeSmet Jr. of Woodinville, Wash.; Richard DeSmet of Aptos; Gary DeSmet of Sonoma and Denise Glasco of Livermore. They also have eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
