Saratoga's Mike Wayne will be one of five Falcons playing for the North squad in the upcoming Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Classic. The football game, featuring the top high school players from the 1995 season, is set for July 26, 8 p.m., at San José City College.

It was truly a star-studded field.
Doug Cosbie was there, just a few years before he would become the All-Pro tight end for the Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys.
Don Schwartz was there, just a few years before he would become a star for the St. Louis Cardinals and New Orleans Saints in the National Football League.
And Millard Hampton was there, just two years before he would win gold and silver medals at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.
But they were not alone.
Otis Page was there, too, just a few years before he would play on three winning Rose Bowl teams at the University of Southern California... and just a couple of months after graduating from Saratoga High School.
Page, and his Saratoga teammates Bob Quail, Mark Sole, Bob Holleran and Rick Barmore, represented Saratoga well in the first ever Santa Clara County All-Star Football Game played in the summer of 1974.
Saratoga will be represented well again this summer when the 22nd annual Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game returns to the Santa Clara Valley.
Saratoga football stars Johnny Taylor, Joel Reikes, Mike Wayne, Mike Whitcanack and Joe Yuan will be on the field for the North squad for the kickoff of the annual all-star game hosted by the Almaden Rotary Club on July 26 at 8 p.m. at San José City College.
Reikes, a 6-foot, 200-pound inside linebacker, won all-league honors for the Falcons last fall and will attend the University of Redlands in the fall on an academic/football and baseball scholarship.
Whitcanack is a 6-foot-6, 283-pound offensive tackle who earned a scholarship to USC after a sensational senior season at Saratoga.
Wayne, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, will head to Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo this fall after winning all-leaguer honors last fall, and Taylor was an all-league strong safety who will attend the University of Utah.
Yuan, a 6-foot-2, 204-pound defensive end, won an all-league spot last fall and is bound for San Jose State University in the fall, and Calebotta was a 6-foot-3, 210-pound all-league offensive guard who will attend UC-Santa Barbara.
Joining the five Falcons on the North side of the scrimmage line will be Lynbrook's Dan Sullivan and Prospect's Honeya Ordoubadi.
The stars join a talented list of local all-stars dating back to that first game in 1974:
