Sheriff's Report
Found Bicycle--July 12, 9 a.m. on Quito Road. An anonymous reporting party called the sheriff's office to report a found bike. The officer found it on the corner of Devon and Quito Road and took custody of it as found property. The bike had no identification or license. The officer entered the bike as found property in the computer system, marked the bike and placed it into evidence at the substation.
Theft of Personal I.D. Information for Fraudulent Use--July 11, 9 p.m. on Aspesi Drive. Some unknown suspect(s) fraudulently obtained the victim's name and social security number April 12 and opened several credit card accounts in Miami. The victim has closed all the accounts and has not been charged with any monetary damages. The problem is ongoing.
Vandalism (No Permanent Damage)--July 11, 6:45 p.m. on Harleigh Drive. Some unknown suspect(s) threw eggs at the victim's car, which was parked on the street. There were eggs all over the back, the top, the left side and the front of the car. An egg had also been smashed into the gas tank area. No permanent damage occurred. The victim said it was the third egging in the last three weeks, and she requested more frequent patrol checks of the area. Her daughter will be a high school senior in the fall, which the sheriff's office says could be related to the crime.
Credit Card Fraud--July 11, 11:40 a.m. on McCoy Avenue. The victim said three airline tickets arrived at her home the day before, and that neither she nor her husband ordered them. She called her credit card company and learned there had been numerous purchases made on her old card. She and her husband have a new card number and have not used the old card since September. There have been more than $5,300 worth of charges made on the victim's card. The officer entered the card as stolen into sheriff's office records.
