    Soccer Tryouts

The Los Gatos Lightning, a boys under-11 select soccer team, will hold tryouts in Los Gatos on July 20, 21 and 31 at Oak Meadow Park and on July 24 at Fisher Middle School. Tryouts begin at 7 p.m. each night.

Coach David deMilo is looking for fast, skillful players from Los Gatos and Saratoga who are not on another CYSA roster, who were born between Aug. 1, 1989, and July 31, 1990, and who have a passion for the game. The team is especially interested in goalkeepers.

    Impact Players

The De Anza Impact, a girls under-11 Class 1 soccer team, is holding tryouts for the fall season. Players born after July 31, 1989, are eligible. The team is coached by Nicole Leonard, a former Santa Clara University goalie. For more information, call the coach at 408.985.9992, or call team manager Laura Watkins at 408.399.9190.

    Youth Football

Signups for the 2000 Los Gatos Pop Warner football season are now being accepted.

Pop Warner offers programs for boys and girls ages 7-15 from Los Gatos and Saratoga. Football teams are grouped according to weight and age, and cheer squads are grouped by age.

The organization will add a new instructional, non-competitive entry-level division this season for boys ages 7-9 weighing between 45-85 pounds.

Practice for all teams begins in August.

For more information, check the Los Gatos Pop Warner website at www.lgpw.com or call the hotline at 408.920.2204.

    Dammit Breakfast

The Los Gatos Lions' Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast following the Aug. 12 running of the Dammit Run in Los Gatos. Proceeds from the breakfast will go towards fund-raising efforts to build a new swimming pool at Los Gatos High School.
