Saratogans receive Dean's List honors
Saratogan Sarah Miller Barnes was named to the Dean's Honors List for the spring quarter at UC-Santa Barbara. Barnes is majoring in pre-sociology. In order to be chosen for the Dean's Honors List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
Also, Saratogans Sarah Jill Halper and Angelina Tchang were recognized recently for making the Dean's List for the spring semester at the University of Wisconsin.
Saratogan Daniel Moran has earned Academic Distinction for the spring semester at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. Students receive this distinction when they earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Moran is majoring in philosophy.
Saratogans Brian Daniel Luskey and Donna Tamar Bareket won awards at the University of Michigan's annual Honors Convocation in Ann Arbor. Luskey was awarded one of the William J. Branstrom Prizes, which were given to freshman students who ranked in the top five percent of their class. He received a Class Honor, which was a recognition for an undergraduate record equal to at least half A's and B's for two terms.
Also, Saratogan Emily Tara Amanatullah was recognized for making the Dean's List for the spring semester at Duke University in Durham, N.C. To make the list, students must rank in the top third of their college.
Lynbrook student in leadership program
Connie Chan of Lynbrook High School is one of more than 200 participants from throughout the state involved in the 2000 National Teen Leadership Program, held at St. Mary's College, in Moraga.
The three-day program features a line up of speakers to motivate and educate young people. There are also hands-on workshops and interview sessions.
