    Teamwork builds trust, confidence

The Youth Action Team, part of the youth services department at the Santa Clara Valley chapter of the American Red Cross, did a little advance work last week at Walden West in the hills above Saratoga. In preparation for the organization's Leadership Development Conference at the same location on Aug. 4-6, the team went through the Ropes Course.

Ropes Course: More photos from the Youth Action Team's leadership development conference.

Having developed the teamwork and gained the confidence which the physically and mentally challenging Ropes Course inspires, this group of 12 young people will serve as mentors at the conference.

This is just one of a number of programs of the Red Cross' youth services department. The goal of this department is to help create a sense of community in young people to encourage their participation in the Red Cross and other community organizations throughout their lives.

For information on Red Cross youth programs, call 408.577.1000 and ask for the youth department, or visit the Red Cross website at www.redcross.org/ca/scv.
