Saratoga NewsNo deals made yet in sale of Notre Dame propertyCity attorney says Measure G doesn't applyBy Sarah Lombardo Talk at the July 21 Saratoga City Council meeting about the applicability of Measure G on the Sisters of Notre Dame property on Bohlman Road got some residents buzzing about what might be in the works for the land. But Notre Dame representatives said no talks are in the works yet so far as the sale of the land goes. "We're just continuing along the same way," said Sister Barbara Thiella, executive administrator of the provincialate. After the city received an inquiry from a real estate agent as to whether Measure G would apply to the consideration of a continued-care facility on the 22-acre property, councilmembers asked City Attorney Michael Riback to take a look. In a report to the City Council dated July 16, Riback concluded, "The general plan land-use designation for this property is "community facilities, quasi-public. Measure G affects only property that is designated as residential or open space in the land-use element of the general plan." Alice Barlett, a real estate agent for Clark Barlett, located in Pacific Palisades, confirmed that she does have a client interested in acquiring the Bohlman Road land. "My particular buyer is a very experienced developer in continued-care facilities," she said, declining to name the potential buyer. Local Coldwell Banker agent Bill Gorman, who is managing the sale of the property for the nuns, and Thiella confirmed that interest has been shown in the site, but both said no serious talks have taken place. The Sisters of Notre Dame announced last December they planned to sell land on which their provincialate has sat for almost 100 years. The order plans to consolidate its facilities in Belmont. The Notre Dame Montessori preschool plans to move to Sacred Heart School on Saratoga Avenue in 1999.
