Golf tournament benefits animal rescue effort

Abused and abandoned pets need help. And the Companion Animal Rescue Effort is there to provide it. But that help doesn't come without costs. So, in an effort to raise funds for its program to help animals, CARE will host its third annual golf tournament Aug. 15 at Summitpointe Golf Club in Milpitas.

The scramble tournament will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start, and the $70 entry fee includes green fees, a golf cart, a box lunch and a tee prize. First-year golfers will receive a golf cap, second-year golfers a "ditty" bag, and third-year golfers a golf towel.

CARE is also looking for hole sponsors for the tournament. For $100, sponsors will have their business card listed in the CARE newsletter, as well as having a sign featuring their business name posted on a tee at the tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Companion Animal Rescue Effort, which helps to find new homes for abused and relinquished pets.
