Saratoga NewsLloyd stars for Brookside at finalsSwimmer ends season with outstanding meet, sets new recordsBy Dick Sparrer Chris Lloyd had a pretty good day. Wait... that seems to be something of an understatement. Lloyd actually had a great day when the Brookside Swim Team competed in the league championship meet a couple of weeks back-- that is, if you consider a couple of record-breaking performances and a high-point trophy a great day! Lloyd dominated the boys' 15-18 age group of the league meet on July 26, and he teamed with Diane Schneider and Kelly Eisenberg to help Brookside wrap up the year in impressive fashion. Lloyd set new records in the 50-yard butterfly (24.75) and the 100-yard freestyle (26.18) on his way to the high-point title among individuals in his age group. Schneider joined Lloyd as a Brookside record-breaker in the meet. Schneider snapped the record in the 50-yard breaststroke (33.97) in the girls' 13-14 division. Eisenberg had a big day in the girls' 7-8 age group, finishing second in the high-point competition. The meet ended the summer season for Brookside. The young swimmers posted a 2-3 record in league competition and finished fifth as a team at the league finals under the direction of coaches Rob Lloyd, Shannon Moore and Megan Kirwan. Season-ending awards were presented to swimmer of the year Eisenberg, who accumulated the most points in the season; most insirational swimmers Ryan Hinshaw and Alyssia Goddard; and coaches award winners Maddy deSimone and Scott Cruikshank.
