Sessions will explain the workings of Green Circle

Three informational coffees to explain and demonstrate the Green Circle, a program designed to reduce prejudice and to help children develop positive social skills by promoting respect for differences among people, are scheduled in September.

The first is set to take place Sept. 10 at Grace United Methodist Church, l9848 Prospect Road. The alternates will be held Sept. 17 and l9 at the same location. All will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (free babysitting provided by reservation).

Green Circle reinforces a positive sense of self-worth and aims to prepare children for life in a pluralistic society, coordinator Dorothy Dorsay said.

Green Circle, a program of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, has been enthusiastically received in the schools of Santa Clara County and is endorsed by the California State PTA, Dorsay said.

Adult volunteers are needed. Persons who participate can develop new skills, experience personal growth, learn to be non-judgmental in facilitating discussions, and build confidence in a supportive atmosphere, Dorsay said.
