Henry Nothhaft
Eagle scout honored for 35 years of community service
On June 8, officials from the Boy Scouts' Learning for Life program, honored Saratogan Henry Nothhaft, who became an Eagle Scout more than 40 years ago, with a Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. The award recognizes Eagle Scouts who have been successful in their profession by using the life skills learned in scouting. It is granted to
Eagle scouts who received the rank 25 or more years ago, have gained status or fame or eminence in their work, and have shared their talents with their communities voluntarily.
Today, Nothhaft is the president and CEO of Concentric Network, a company with headquarters in San Jose that supports small and medium sized ebusinesses by providing DSL access, web-hosting and ecommerce.
Nothhaft was honored at an awards dinner at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose for 35 years of community service. The goal of the dinner was to raise enough money to extend the Boy Scouts of America's Learning for Life program so that it can serve up to 5,000 youngsters in San Jose.
The program, located in Santa Clara, provides classroom programs at Bay area schools, in locations where scouting is not available due to economic factors and lack of volunteers. Concentric Network, and NEXTLINK Communications, of which Nothhaft is vice chairman, co-sponsored the dinner and silent auction.
