    Saratoga, MLS to host camps for kids, parents

    The Saratoga AYSO Region 27 soccer league, in cooperation with the San Jose Earthquakes and Major League Soccer, will host a Major League Soccer Camp Aug. 21-25, 9 a.m.-noon, at Congress Springs Park.

    The camp is recommended for all players in the under-6 to under-14 programs (players born between Aug. 1, 1986, and Dec. 31, 1995). Players will be divided into groups based on age and skill level.

    The cost is $100 per child and each camper receives a T-shirt, a ball, an evaluation, a gift from Major League Soccer and a companion ticket to an Earthquakes game.

    There is also a free parents-coaches clinic slated for Aug. 13, 2-5 p.m., at Congress Springs Park. The clinic will be presented by Major League Soccer.

    Impact tryouts

    The De Anza Impact, a girls under-11 Class 1 soccer team, is holding tryouts for the fall season on Aug. 9 and 11. Players born after July 31, 1989, are eligible. The team is coached by Nicole Leonard, a former Santa Clara University goalie. For more information, call the coach at 408.985.9992, or call team manager Laura Watkins at 408.399.9190.

    Players needed

    Two Los Gatos Metro boys soccer teams are looking for players for the upcoming select season.

    The Metro boys under-13 Class 1 team is looking for a field player and a goalkeeper, and the boys under-14 Class 1 team is looking for two field players.
