Saratogans raking in Scholastic honors
Charles Aring of Saratoga graduated with honors from Hyde School, an independent college preparatory school in Connecticut. Aring was awarded the Excellence in Academics and Performing Arts awards. He plans to attend Willamette University in the fall.
Another Saratogan, Harry Hung Yu, was named to the Dean's List for spring 1999 at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is an engineering major.
Harvard grad earns language certificates
Alison E. Vigil of Saratoga graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University on June 10. She was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in history and literature and also received a certificate in Latin American studies and a foreign language citation in Spanish. She plans to join Alliance Consulting Group this fall as an associate consultant in their Boston office.
Saratoga grads making waves in college studies
Kristen Chin, a 1995 graduate of Saratoga High School, has received her bachelor of arts degree from UC-San Diego. She plans to attend the University of San Francisco School of Law this fall. Chin has been awarded the School of Law Faculty Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement.
Clare Yvonne Wang of Saratoga recently was named to the spring 1999 dean's list at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn. Choate is an independent secondary school with an enrollment of about 830.
Prospect High School graduate Stuart Ort recently graduated cum laude from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. He plans to attend medical school at Penn State.
Benjamin Sun of Saratoga was named to the dean's honor roll at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., for the spring 1999 semester.
Saratogan James Lally recently graduated from the Marine Corps Officer's Candidate School in Quantico, Va. Lally also was named to the dean's list at the Boston University School of Communication for spring 1999. He will be the battalion leader for the university's ROTC program this fall.
Sheryl Rae Linsky of Saratoga was named to the spring 1999 dean's list with high honors at Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
Valedictorian is Oberlin-bound
Sartogan Michael Mastman was named valedictorian of his class at Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley at spring graduation ceremonies. Mastman was recognized as a National Merit finalist and a member of the National Honor Society. He also received the English Faculty Award. Mastman plans to attend Oberlin College in the fall.
