Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsChildren's Play House offers musical theater workshops The Children's Play House of San Jose is again offering nine-week musical theater workshops for children entering grades 1-5. Classes begin Sept. 15 and take place Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Blossom Hill School in Los Gatos. This fall's production is Snow White Meets the Queen of Hearts, an original musical written by Play House executive director Kathy Olson. The storyline finds Mrs. Snodgrass, an unorganized teacher, mixing up a bunch of traditional fairy tales by dropping a storybook and getting the pages all out of order. Among the well-known characters appearing in the tale are Rumplestiltskin, the White Rabbit and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. Classes culminate in two performances on Nov. 22. An $80 registration fee per child includes an audio cassette tape for practice, a picture packet of the child in costume, a script and nine hours of instruction. Parents are asked to supply a costume and one hour of volunteer time. Registration forms are available from the Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation, at 354-8700. The Children's Play House may be reached between 3 and 6 p.m. at 578-PLAY.
