Rabbi Leslie J. Alexander, formerly associate rabbi and program director at Congregation Adat Ari El in the San Fernando Valley, has been named program director for Congregation Beth David, Saratoga.
She is scheduled to begin work on Aug. 15.
In the newly created position, Alexander will develop programs for singles, seniors and others in the congregation.
While at Congregation Adat Ari El, Alexander was involved in programs ranging from education and religious activities to socials and fundraisers. She wrote a successful proposal for a $42,000 grant from the Avi Chai Foundation for the development of a Jewish television series aired on the local community-access cable channel.
Alexander received her bachelor's degree in history from UCLA and earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in Hebrew letters from the University of Judaism, with an additional MHL from Hebrew Union College, where she was ordained as a rabbi.
Although she will not serve Congregation Beth David as a rabbi, she remains an active member of the Rabbinic Assembly of the United Synagogue and serves on its nominating committee.
