Chin in Europe
Former Saratoga basketball star Jon Chin is a member of the Dickinson College men's basketball team that is currently touring Europe for two weeks of sightseeing and basketball.
Chin, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound senior forward, is one of 12 Red Devils making the trip to Great Britain and France. Dickinson will play games against the Livingston Basketball Club, the Leicester Basketball Club and the Swifts Basketball Club on the trip.
Men's 45-plus basketball
Saratoga will host a men's 45-and-over basketball league this fall. League play begins Sept. 5 and games will be played Thursdays 7-10 p.m. at the Saratoga High School gym. The cost is $44 for Saratoga residents and $49 for non-residents. For more information, call 867-3438, ext. 234.
Nothing But Net
The Nothing But Net Back to School 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held Aug. 24 at Silver Creek High School in San Jose. There will be divisions for teams in the following classifications: men's and women's open, high school boys and girls, 6-2 and under, and recreational.

Bicycle tours
The Clean Air Bicycle Challenge, co-sponsored by the Los Gatos Kiwanis Club and the American Lung Association, will be held Sept. 14 with tours starting from Los Gatos High School.
Tours feature loops of 20 miles, 50 kilometers, 100 kilometers and 100-miles. The registration fee runs from $10 to $20, and families are welcome.

Clash camps
The San Jose Clash will hold soccer camps for youngsters ages 5-8 Aug. 19-23. Players ages 5-6 will attend from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and players ages 7-8 will attend from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $55 and includes a soccer ball and T-shirt. For more information, call Louie Mata at 923-5682.
Freitas fires an ace
John Freitas pulled out a 5-iron and knocked in a hole-in-one on the 150-yard 11th hole at the LaRinconada Country Club in Los Gatos recently.
