    Sheriff's Report

    Grand Theft--Aug. 4, 5 p.m. on Brookview Drive. When the victim left for vacation July 31, his basketball hoop was in his driveway. When he returned Aug. 4, the hoop was gone. A neighbor had heard a loud noise at 2 a.m. that day. The victim's Realtor saw the hoop on Aug. 2, but not on Aug. 3. No one saw or heard any suspects.

    Trespassing--Aug. 2, 6:11 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The suspect parked on Union Pacific Railroad property. Posted on the property are signs that read "Trespassing/Loitering Forbidden by Law PC 369(a)" and "No person shall drive any motor vehicle hereon without permission of Santa Clara Valley Water District CVC 21116." The suspect has been a chronic abuser of these laws. The officer warned her twice to stay off the property, cited her and released her.

    Petty Theft--Aug. 2, 2:10 p.m. on Saratoga Sunnyvale Road. The suspect stole makeup and jewelry from a drug store worth about $110. When the store clerk tried to stop her, she ran. The officer arrived and stopped her car in the parking lot. He booked her on two warrants that totaled $7,500 and on petty theft. The sheriff's office had no record of her serving time on her previous two petty theft charges.

    Illegal Use of Credit Card--July 31, 3:30 p.m. on Squirrel Hollow Lane. The victim noticed her credit card missing July 13 and reported it to her bank. Bank officials told her July 17 that someone had used the card five times on July 13. The victim then noticed five checks missing from her checkbook on July 31. When she contacted her bank, officials told her none of the checks had been cashed or used. There are no suspects.

    Under the Influence --July 31, 1 a.m. on Ljepava Drive. The deputy contacted the suspect at his residence while investigating a disturbance. The suspect's pupils didn't react normally to light. His mouth was dry, and his resting pulse was 120 beats per minute. The officer took him into custody and booked him at the main jail.

    Vandalism--July 30, 12:30 p.m. on 4th Street. The victim parked next to a retaining wall at his apartment complex. That morning he saw a large dent on the roof of his truck. It looked like someone had sat or stood there. The sheriff's office has no leads or suspects.
