    Saratogan dies in bicycle accident

A Saratoga man who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Prospect Avenue died Aug. 5 from injuries resulting from the accident.

Theodore Stave, 50, was riding west on Prospect Road at about 5 p.m. on Aug. 1 when he collided with a Mercury Mountaineer, a van which was also traveling westbound, said Sgt. John Hirokawa of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department.

Witnesses said Stave veered left from the lane in which he was traveling into the van's lane, striking the side of the vehicle. The impact knocked him from his bike. Emergency workers transported Stave to Valley Medical Center with multiple injuries.

He later died at the hospital, Hirokawa said. The driver of the vehicle was not cited.

Family members held a memorial service for Stave on Aug. 11 at the Home Church Fellowship Hall in Campbell. He is survived by his mother, Kay, and his son, Samuel.
