Sheriff's Report

False Tags--Aug. 3, 3 p.m., on Saratoga-Los Gatos Road. A deputy stopped a motorcycle for driving at an unsafe speed. The driver only had a paper license and admitted that he put a stolen tag on his motorcycle to avoid proper registration.

Vandalism--Aug. 2, 10:15 a.m., on Gerald Zappelli Court. An unknown suspect threw eggs at the victim's car, which resulted in scratches to the car's roof. There are no witnesses or suspects.

Burglary--Aug. 2, 9:30 a.m., on Herriman Avenue. Someone entered a locked room at a church and stole a guitar and its case, valued at $1,000.

Vandalism--Aug. 1, 10:30 a.m., on Apricot Hill Court. Unknown suspects poured and wiped refried beans on the entire exterior of a car. A large empty refried beans can was left on the car's hood. Once the beans were removed, the car was left was several minor scratches over its exterior.

Vandalism--Aug. 1, 10 a.m., on Hilltop Way. Nacho cheese was poured and wiped over the entire exterior of a car by unknown suspects. A large empty can of nacho cheese was left on the roof of the vehicle, and the initials SJM and ABM were printed in the cheese. The car was left with minor scratches on the hood after the cheese was wiped away. The victims and neighbors had no information about possible suspects.

Attempted Residential Burglary--July 31, 6:55 p.m., on Greenbrook Court. A resident noticed that his door handle was bent away from the door. Neighbors told the victim that the previous night, their dogs had barked furiously for several hours. Nothing was missing and there are no suspects.

Petty Theft--July 31, 10:30 a.m., on Fruitvale Avenue. A city employee had a Claude the Crab Beanie Baby displayed on the top of her computer near a public-access counter. The employee said a woman with two children came in to inquire about a ticket. The victim stepped out of the area for about five minutes, and when she returned, she noticed her Beanie Baby was missing. A plant on the counter had been moved by an unknown person to get to the Beanie Baby. The employee told deputies there were no other customers in the waiting area.

Vandalism--July 30, 9:20 a.m., on Oak Street. A resident parked his car in a school parking lot across the street from his house while he went in to get some items. When he returned to his car 10 minutes later, he saw the paint on his left rear fender had been scratched with a sharp object. No suspects were seen or heard.
