Saratoga NewsSheriff's ReportVandalism--Aug. 12, 8 a.m., on Taos Drive. The victim was informed by her neighbor that her mailbox had been knocked down. Her neighbor heard a banging sound at about 12:45 a.m. and saw a male figure running down the street. The mailbox was found on the ground, loosened from its post. The victim told deputies this was the fourth time her mailbox had been vandalized. Vandalism--Aug. 12, 6:59 a.m., on Farwell Avenue. Unknown suspect or suspects used a sharp instrument--not a key--to scratch the victim's vehicle. The tailgate, all four left-side panels and the hood were scratched. The driver's door had the initials "AP" or "AD" scratched into the paint. The victims said they don't know of any suspects. The area was the scene of several other recent vandalism incidents, including similar initials scratched on a door. Grand Theft--Aug. 12, 11:45 a.m., on Maria Lane. A 60-year-old woman reported that she last saw her tennis bracelet on May 27 in the morning and noticed it missing later that evening. She told deputies that her house cleaner and assistant were at the residence earlier that morning. The victim said she searched her drawers for the $800 bracelet and two pairs of missing shorts but did not find the items. False Registration--Aug. 10, 11:50 p.m., on Bucknall and Quito Road. The suspect was driving a vehicle that had expired registration. A current 1998 tab was on the rear license plate. Suspect also had a suspended license. Driving Under the Influence--Aug. 9, 3:15 a.m., on Via Colina. A 44-year-old man pulled his van into a private driveway. The man was yelling at his van and acted like he was talking to another person. He had the radio on and the motor running. The homeowner asked if the man needed some help. The man said no, and the homeowner called police. When deputies arrived, the man continued to yell, saying he was yelling at his wife. Deputies checked the van and found no one else in the vehicle. The man, who smelled of alcohol, was arrested and taken to the county jail. Driving under the Influence--Aug. 8, 2:05 a.m., on Weston Drive and Quito Road. A 61-year-old male was going 60 mph down a city street and drifting through traffic lanes. The man, who smelled of alcohol, was arrested for driving under the influence. Driving Under The Influence--Aug. 8, 12:30 a.m., on Prospect Road and Johnson Avenue. A 45-year old man was arrested after speeding and driving with his high beams on. Vandalism--Aug. 4, 4:20 p.m., on Crayside Lane. The victim found a three-foot-long scratch on the passenger side of her car, possibly caused by a sharp tool or key. There were no known suspects or witnesses. Burglary--Aug. 4, 3 p.m., on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. A suspect cut the lock off of the victim's storage locker at a storage business. Five boxes of soap valued at $1,500 and a large dolly worth $200 were taken. Vandalism--Aug. 4, 1 p.m., on Villa Oaks Lane at Deer Trail Court. A construction company left a small bulldozer at a construction site over the weekend. An unknown suspect broke out the headlights and put dirt in the fuel tank. The deputy advised the construction company to put a fence around the site to protect the company's equipment and to avoid any future problems with tools or materials.
