Ariko wins one, loses one

Ryan Ariko of Saratoga lost in a championship match at the Alpine Hills Junior Tennis Classic late last week.

But the Saratoga teen-ager couldn't be too disappointed. After all, he'd already won one title in the prestigious tennis tournament.

Ariko went three sets to win the Boys' 16 singles crown, beating Dimitri Toursanov 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the finals. Ariko had beaten Jonathan Oakes of Petaluma 6-1, 6-0 in the singles quarterfinals.

Ariko teamed with Erik Chen of San Jose, and the pair played their way into the Boys' 16 doubles finals before losing a tough three-set decision. The twosome lost 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to Neil Berman and Seahn Bhola.

Camille Behnke posted a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-4 win over Eloise Harper of Atherton in the Girls' 16 quarterfinals, but lost 6-1, 6-1 to Tracy Cheung of Los Altos in the semifinals.
