Obituaries
Lester Otto
Longtime Saratogan Lester E. Otto died on July 14 at the age of 77.
Born on Oct. 5, 1921, in Leonard, N.D., Otto was his high school salutatorian and went on to attend the State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D. He later passed the Civil Service exam and did governmental work in Washington, D.C., and in the Panama Canal Zone.
During World War II, Otto spent two years in the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he moved to Fargo, N.D., and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Grand Forks in North Dakota. He then moved to Colorado, where he received a master's degree from the University of Denver.
In 1949, Otto was hired by the Ford Motor Company, for whom we worked for the next 37 years in various managerial positions.
Otto was preceded in death by daughter Brenda Otto of Big Lake, Alaska. Survivors include wife of 49 years Millie Otto of Saratoga; son Jeff Otto of San Francisco; grandchildren Nicole, James and Kristy Otto of Big Lake, Alaska; uncle Milton Martin of Ohio; and several cousins.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Madronia Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Saratoga Adult Day Care Center, P.O. Box 3033, Saratoga, 95070.
James Elliott
Former Saratoga resident James Edward Elliott, who had been residing in Coto de Caza, Calif., died on July 17 at the age of 65.
Elliott worked as a mechanical engineer with Lockheed Martin and made his home in Saratoga from 1963 through the spring of 1999.
Survivors include wife Rosemary Elliott; daughters Carrie Murphy and Lisa Comfort; son Jim Elliott; and granddaughters. Meghann and Katie Murphy.
Memorial services have been held.
