Saratoga teens embark on two-year mission of mercy
Two 1998 Saratoga High School graduates, Ryan Anderson and Jeffrey Jones, will be serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years as missionaries. This volunteer work requires a six-day-a-week commitment and personal funding for the trip. The job includes proselytizing and doing community service projects, such as serving food and helping to build homes for needy families.
Anderson, the son of David and Sue Anderson of Saratoga, was an all-conference football player in high school and an MVP of the school's basketball team. An Eagle Scout, Anderson attends the University of Utah. He will travel to Naga in the Philippines for his mission. Jones, son of Saratogans Morris and Teri Jones, attends De Anza College, where he studies computer science. He will serve the Minneapolis, Minn., Spanish-speaking mission.
Both left in July. At each of their destinations, they will have the opportunity to meet and visit with other missionaries.
