Eppler, Bates

Ruth L. Bates of Martinez announces the engagement of her daughter, Dorothy Jean, to Stephen Matthew Eppler, son of Gloria and Dr. Walter Eppler of Saratoga. Dorothy's father was the late Mark J. Bates.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of UC-Berkeley and UC-Davis. She is a research associate at Genentech in South San Francisco.

Her fiancé is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of Virginia. He is also a research associate at Genentech.

They plan an October wedding.

Bough, Munce

Currie and Caroline Munce of Saratoga announce the engagement of their daughter, Laurie, to Keith Bough, son of Larry and Lusanne Bough of Oakley, Calif.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Saratoga High School and California State University, Chico. She is employed as the regional sales manager at Rosenbluth International in San Jose.

Her fiancé is a graduate of Libert High School in Oakley. He is production manager at Coast Insulation Co. in San Jose.

They plan a November wedding.

Friedman, Duryea

Terry and Kathy Duryea of Saratoga announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Kara, to Dr. Dan Friedman, son of Jack and Sharon Friedman of Saratoga.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Lynbrook High School and San Diego State University. She is employed in the healthcare field.

Her fiancé attended Lynbrook High School and is a graduate of UC-Santa Barbara. He completed his four-year medical degree at the University of Texas and is a neurology resident at the University of Oregon.

They plan a summer 1998 wedding.
