Sheriff's Report

Under the influence--Aug. 18, 5:10 a.m., on Saratoga Avenue and Park Place. Deputies stopped the driver of a blue Buick for lack of registration. The deputies then determined the suspect was under the influence of a stimulant. During a search of the car for inventory, tools consistent with those used by auto burglars, a scanner with the sheriff's office frequency and two small flashlights were found. The serial numbers had been removed from the scanner.

Domestic violence--Aug. 17, 5:10 p.m., on Mendelsohn Drive. At 10 a.m. on Aug. 14, the suspect allegedly grabbed his 32-year-old girlfriend by the neck and bent her backward over the sink in his home. Two days later at 1 a.m., the man struck the woman in the face, breaking her nose. The couple has been in a two-year dating relationship in which the woman lives at the boyfriend's house most of the time. The suspect was arrested and booked.

Assault with a deadly weapon--Aug. 17, 12:37 p.m., at Glen Brae and Via Real drives. The victim was trying to drive away from his 36-year-old son, who was chasing him in another vehicle. His son was apparently trying to run him off the road. The father drove to the firehouse on Saratoga Avenue to get away from his son. An emergency protective order was issued to keep the suspect away from the father. The son was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

Vandalism--Aug. 17, 9:20 a.m., on Glen Brae Drive. During patrol of a park, the deputy noticed the outfield grass of both baseball fields had been vandalized. An unknown suspect had driven a vehicle over both fields, completing several 360 degree turns and causing moderate damage.
