Virgil D. Biron
Virgil Dante Biron, 75, a former Saratogan who lived on Old Tree Way for many years, died July 19 in Redding.
"His sons went through schools here in Saratoga, and Mickey, his wife, was manager of the school cafeteria for many years, at Redwood, Argonaut and Saratoga schools" said friend Dan Ljepava of Saratoga.
Biron was born June 25, 1921, in Oakland. He was a legal contract manager for Westinghouse Corp. and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Nevada City and the Moose Lodge in Redding.
Survivors included his wife, Mickey; sons Philip Biron of Tahoe City, David Biron of Byron and Chris Biron of Roseville; sister Aurora Caviglia of Roseville and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital Children, 1701 19th Ave., San Francisco.
David J. Rodrigues
David Joseph Rodrigues, 43, died in Saratoga Aug. 12. A graduate of Saratoga High School, he was a disabled after being a crime victim 16 years ago.
Rodrigues worked as a respiratory therapist. He was a member of Calvary Cathedral Church in San Jose, and his hobbies were computers and automobiles. Before becoming incapacitated, he was a sports car driver and a swimmer.
He leaves a wife, Carolyn Rodrigues of Saratoga, father Joseph Rodrigues of Palo Alto, and sisters Kathleen E. Feeney of Scotts Valley and Helen E. Rodrigues of Berkeley.
He was born on Dec. 6, 1952, in Berkeley.
Services were held at Calvary Cathedral Church in San Jose, and burial was at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga. The family asks that contributions in his memory be sent to a charitable organization of choice.
Evelyn O. Geoffroy
Longtime Saratogan Evelyn O. Geoffroy died Aug. 9 at Lady of Fatima Villa after a brief illness. Private services have been held at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga.
Born in San Jose to Kate and James Owen, she graduated from San Jose State Teachers College, earning a teaching credential. She taught her first class at Alviso School. She also taught at Jefferson School in San Jose and was a substitute teacher at Sacred Heart School for many years.
Her brother, Marv "Frec" Owen, was one of San Jose's major league baseball players, playing for the Detroit Tigers in the 1934 World Series.
She married George Geoffroy Aug. 2, 1938, in Reno, and they had two children, Mary and William. Her daughter and husband LaRoue Kirwan of Saratoga have one daughter, Kristi, Geoffroy's only grandchild.
"Evie felt so positive about life. She was a good friend to many people and an inspiration to her neighbors. She loved to read, and she loved her home and garden," said LaRoue Kirwan about his mother-in-law. "She probably read 10,000 books in her lifetime."
Mrs. Geoffroy was a lifetime member of the Friends of the Library and was active in a number of clubs, including the Montalvo Association, Foothill Club, French Club, Los Gatos History Club and Sacred Heart Church.
In addition to her children, she is survived by two sisters, Dorothy K. Yoggerst of Los Altos and Viola M. Owen of Aptos, and many cousins and nephews, including Don Geoffroy of Saratoga.
