Aegis Gallery to fill with garden images, lavender

Now through Sept. 24, prolific photographer Nancy Jo Lopp is the featured artist at Aegis Gallery, 14531 Big Basin Way in Saratoga. The Santa Cruz Mountains resident has been a photographer for 25 years and teaches workshops in the Polaroid emulsion transfer process, which she has perfected to create distinctive, ethereal images of the natural world, especially flowers.

The exhibit also includes photographic portraits of flowers and fruits, most of which are grown in Lopp's garden, as well as lavender photographs complemented by hand-arranged baskets, bundles and topiaries of the fragrant herb. Lopp and her husband maintain their own lavender fields on their mountain property.

A reception takes place Sept. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Lopp will also be on hand Sept. 3, at 2 and 4 p.m. to demonstrate Polaroid emulsion. All events are open to the public. For more information, call the gallery at 408.867.0171, or Lopp at 408.353.4257.

Comedian brings her show to Blue Rock Shoot

Local comedian Jacqi Bowe returns to the Blue Rock Shoot coffeehouse to present her "alter-eager" Pam'La Pesto Perfekt--a.k.a. The Perfekt Estrogen American--in a stand-up comedy performance on Aug. 31, beginning at 8:13 p.m.

Bowe will award the first person in line with an autographed comic book full of the adventures of an animated Pam'la. Blue Rock Shoot is at 14523 Big Basin Way. For more information, call 408.241.8318, or email pampestoperfekt@aol.com.

Garden Habitat Network event comes to library

Creating a garden habitat is the focus of a presentation by Jeff Caldwell on Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Community Library, 13650 Saratoga Ave. Caldwell is the founder of Garden Habitat Network, a new organization that promotes biological diversity in man-made landscapes. His talk will focus on resources, native plants and landscaping for wildlife. There will also be a question-and-answer session.
