    Azule Park plans

    Azule Park Plan

After several months of public input, residents near Azule Park and city staff have settled on a plan for the park. 'It was a good process,' said Cary Bloomquist, the city's liaison to the Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission. 'The people were really behind it.' Under the final layout, landscaping and a winding pathway will surround a central lawn. Users will be able to smack a tennis ball or volleyball, pitch a horseshoe or swing lazily in the play area. Currently, the land is a decaying walnut and oak grove that hasn't been improved since the city acquired it in 1969. The city council was scheduled to consider the new plan on Sept. 5. The council has already tentatively approved funding for Azule as part of a citywide capital improvement project.
