    Library friends invite public to first fall meeting

    The Friends of the Saratoga Libraries will hold its first fall meeting on Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Community Room of the Saratoga Library, 13650 Saratoga Ave. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served.

    The morning begins with a brief business meeting, followed by a program by Anne Cross, a 25-year Saratoga resident. She will discuss 7 Wicketts on a Ticket, the book written by her family after living in Zimbabwe for a year.

    Doreen Davis to exhibit works at Gallery Saratoga

    Now through Sept. 29, Doreen Davis will be the featured artist at Gallery Saratoga, 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 3. The show features a variety of Davis' watercolor paintings, many of which depict her love of nature as expressed in her garden scenes, window boxes and close-up florals.

    Free meetings explain Green Circle Program

    Grace United Methodist Church, at 19848 Prospect Road in Saratoga, will host two informational coffees for adults interesting in learning more about the Green Circle Program. The meetings take place Sept. 12 and 19, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

    Green Circle, a program of the National Conference for Community and Justice, is designed to reduce prejudice and to help elementary school children develop positive social skills by promoting respect and appreciation for the differences among all people. It also teaches problem-solving and group dynamics. Green Circle has been used in Santa Clara County schools for 19 years and is endorsed by the California State PTA.
