Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsFashion designer holds fall show at Villa Montalvo Azadeh, a Bay Area-based designer of women's clothing, debuts her fall 1998 fashion line during a free show on Sept. 9 at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. This collection is her largest to date and focuses on sleek new designs and use of silks and faux furs. Among her clients, Azadeh has done wardrobing for actors on Melrose Place, Suddenly Susan and Entertainment Tonight. A reception begins at 6 p.m., followed at 6:45 p.m. by the runway show. 'Mikado' comes to Hakone The Hakone Foundation hosts a concert performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado, featuring costumed artists from the San Francisco Lamplighters, on Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at Hakone Gardens, located at 21000 Big Basin Way in Saratoga. The honorary chairperson is Shigeki Matsue, president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California. Beginning at 4 p.m., wines from Saratoga's Cooper-Garrod Winery will be served. Guests may also use the time before the performance to walk through the gardens. A light dinner will be served following the concert. Throughout the evening, kimonos, obis and other artifacts will be on display and available for sale. Seating is limited. For reservations, call 741-4994. Subscriptions still available Season memberships are still available for the Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association's four-concert 1998-99 season. All concerts take place at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays at the Los Gatos High School auditorium, except for the February concert, which will take place at the Los Gatos United Methodist Church on High School Court. The season begins Nov. 8 with the young American baritone Leroy Villanueva. The season also includes the San Jose Wind Symphony, Robert Thies, winner of the second International Profofiev Piano Competition, and the Joe Trio.
