Saratoga Fun Run Returns Sept. 28

The annual Falcon Fun Run and Walk returns to the track at Saratoga High School on Sept. 28, 11 a.m. The event benefits the track and cross- country programs at the high school.

The race fee is $15 in advance and $20 on race day. For more information, call 867-7920.

Youth basketball

Saratoga National Junior Basketball will hold sign-ups for boys and girls in the first through eighth grades on Sept. 13 and 20, 10-11:30 a.m., at Congress Springs Park. Mail-in registration is due by Sept. 26.

The registration fee for the competitive youth league is $125 for players in grades 3-8 (the season runs Dec. 7 -March 15) and $70 for players in grades 1-2 (the season runs Jan. 4-Feb. 8).

Punt, Pass and Kick

The annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contest will be held Sept. 28, 3 p.m., at Camden Park. The free contest is open to boys and girls ages 8-15 (as of Dec. 31, 1997). For more information, call 277-5556.

Carousel to Coaster

The annual Carousel to Coaster Run returns to Great America Sept. 28, 8:30 a.m. The 10K run and 5K walk begins at 8:30 a.m., and the course cuts right through the middle of the amusement park in Santa Clara.

The registration fee is $17 by Sept. 15, and includes a race T-shirt. Race day registration is $20 and shirts will be available while supplies last.

'49er Special' returns

Going to a San Francisco 49ers game? Well, why not leave the car at home?

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is making that possible by providing direct bus service to all home games.

The fare is $13 for a round-trip ticket ($6.50 one way), and a season pass can be purchased in advance for $80. Buses arrive at the stadium 30 minutes before game time and depart 20 minutes after the end of the game.
