Montalvo gallery to open exhibit of prints, sculpture

The Gallery at Montalvo opens Sept. 20, with a new exhibit featuring the work of San Francisco artist Jeff King. His two major pieces are Blossom and Four Balls, a large wooden sculpture; and Wooden Sutra, a large block print struck from the simple wooden forms that accompany the print. The temple building and grounds at Tokugenji, Japan were King's inspiration for this piece.

The public is invited to a preview reception on Sept. 16, from 3 to 5 p.m., which includes a talk with the artist at 4 p.m. The gallery is at 15400 Montalvo Road. Regular gallery hours are 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. For more information, call 408.961.5813.

Library friends seek names of Saratoga authors

The Friends are soliciting the names of individuals in any of the categories to be included in the ever-growing Saratoga Authors' Hall of Fame. Many of these authors will also have books on display at the Friends' Book-Go-Round store on Oak Street Sept. 18-23, during Celebrate Saratoga! However, the Authors' Hall of Fame display will continue through Sept. 30.

Anyone who would like to nominate a Saratogan may call Tat Blesh at 408.867.9571, Mary Jeanne Fenn at 408.867.0564, or Pat Mahler at 408.354.6480.
